I mentioned the other day that the Missouri Presbytery of the PCA has cleared Jeff Meyers of all the doctrinal allegations that had been made against him. For those interested in pursuing it, the full report is available here.

I thought the most stunning thing wasn't the theological arguments but the revelation that at least a majority of the signatories of the accusing letter did not know it was going to be made public and that at least seven of them were upset that Pastor White decided to make it public. Pastor White's statement that he simply provided it to a news service and didn't ask them to either publish it or not publish it speaks for itself.

It's curious that in the "analyses" I've read of this decision, one thing that is never raised as a possibility of why it was made, is that the Presbytery actually found upon investigation that Jeff Meyers doesn't hold any positions that are actually out of conformity with the Standards, or at least any that were in question in this case.

It's one thing to disagree with such a decision or find it implausible, but for it not even to be one of the possible options given is just interesting.
