Curses! Foiled again! What, oh what, can we do when these folks are so clearly on to us? Who among us is the spy for Escondido (2 Kings 6:11)? Who among us hath revealed our most secret stratagems and evil designs? There is is nothing for it now but to pack up and move down the road. Maybe to Riggins.

"The theonomic and reconstructionist movements have been a gateway into Reformed theology and congregations for a good number of folk."

Har. This is true of me.

"Hey, man. Reconstructionism was *my* gateway drug. What was yours? Mmm... pass that Van Til around man... now I've got the munchies.

Did that just happen? Did R. Scott Clark just compare Moscow/Doug Wilson to Jonestown?

Ack! He's on to us! Want me to, uh, counsel with him? I'll counsel him good and hard.

True reformed subcultures have ALWAYS had strong, charismatic leaders, starting way back from Moses' day. That most of our current "reformed" groups don't have such leaders is evidence they ain't that reformed.

Now you know the REAL reason I drank only water at the Wilson home.

It's all true! Everything Scott Clark said is true! Pastor Wilson used to spank us students with copies of "Reformed is Not Enough" if we forgot to chant "postmillennial paedocommunion, postmillennial paedocommunion" every time he entered the classroom!

But I like your charisma. And second, Moscow isn't entirely distinct from Jonestown. Both towns had people living in them.

Hasn't the time come for a nice (televised) public debate between Wilson and Clark ala Luther v Eck? Of course, twenty three days are not going to be required for Clark to get intellectually crumpled.

Hmm. He makes a vague statement about someone Reformed, but leaves it up to the imaginations of the readers to finish the insult. Interesting technique.

I find Clark's article offensive, chiefly because Jones was a criminal, thug, and charlatan who systematically stole and abused the downtrodden and those unequipped to think critically.

He could have just as easily titled it "Nazi Germany and the Reformed Movement Updated", attached a picture of Hitler, and made the same bullet points.

So smoothly insidious to not actually name his target. He's like the guy who asks you for directions (or change, or the time), knowing his crew is waiting in the wings to kick your teeth in, but claims, "I didn't know THEY were going to jump you...!"

...if you go to Clark's post the "comments are closed".

Wonder why?

I guess he didn't like all the jokes about kool-aid.....
