Something like this happened to a friend of my in-laws. When this woman was in college, a suitor told her that the Lord had told him they should get married. She assured him that the Lord had neglected to mention it to her.

Any male who cannot get a woman's interest without attempting to use the authority of the Lord to sway her is pathetic, not ready for marriage, and should be disciplined.

It works the other way too. I was in a Bible study once with a young black man who was the subject of many revelations from the Lord. He was handsome, a strong believer from a great family, and was finishing a masters at MIT. Young women were constantly prophesying that he was the one they were to marry.

Lewis talks somewhere about erotic love seeming to speak with the voice of God.
