A comment box? What on earth would we want with one of those?

That your gracious and potent questions have met with a tangle of vain assertions of "inescapable reason" and "informed inquiry" trash-compacted into a cozy cube fit for a trip to and permenant place of burning in the everlasting dump, Gehenna, leaves me a very settled Christian theist. A very settled Christian theist who in my own soul sees a Hitchens. The old man of sin in me very much loves the hateful arrows slung by your opponent at the Being, the Persons, and the inerrant, pure, and true word of the Triune and Incarnate God, the only God who is. Romans 1 and 2. Romans 7, Calvin and Luther style. And in this particular debate today, Rev. Wilson, I am pulling for you all the way! Go team.

Mr Wilson,

Thanks for the thoughtful reply to a man of "reason" and "science". Your closing is a thing of beauty! Thanks.

He's going to take the typical atheistic casual dismissal route? I expected better. But, that makes your job tougher, so I suppose that's why he's doing it.

"A comment box? What on earth would we want with one of those?"

Agreed. I'd prefer a vote line, like on American Idol. ;-)

Sweet. I tried to put it to good use.

"...a series that will appear on our website over the course of this month."

Ouch.

Hitchens is on his knees after the first Wilson installment, and now tries to sneak out of the ring by playing dumb. Wilson went for the jugular at his first chance, and the debate is over. Of course, Hitchens lost this debate by agreeing to have it.

Not a wasted word, not a needless digression, and all in "mildly amusing" fun to boot: apologetics has never been so entertaining. Pastor Wilson, hats off -- you're the man.

As for those Christians who imagine they can teach Wilson how to debate, I feel sorry for them.

If Hitchens remains in the ring, this is going to be a long, slow, painful month.

From what I can tell, it just seems that in the second debate installment, Hitchens refuses to engage with Wilson. You can almost palpably see the wind being sucked from Hitchens' mizzen, and he is reduced to hand waving. I was expecting something far more formidable from Hitchens -- surely, this is not the best an educated atheist can do? Wilson is mopping the floor with him, and all I can say is, it's about time.
