I just got my author's copies of 5 Cities That Ruled the World today, and you should of course get your twelve copies now. But -- and this is the way it frequently goes even while the printing press is cooling down -- this is the time when errors are brought to one's attention, waving cheerfully at one. So, if you get this book, take care not to believe what you read on the top of page 143. The House of Hanover was not established on the throne of England until some decades after that. William was Dutch, and it was the first George that was German. For pity's sake.

I received my copy from Amazon in October, even though the release date was this week in November. Weird. What's weirder is that I didn't even notice that typo.

Besides that, however, I really enjoyed the book. Really really good, and a lot of great history I didn't know, and important things that need to be said got said.

Dutch...Deutsch...close enough.

I tie a half-hanover knot at least weekly. I didn't even know it was DUTCH! Wow! In any event, tell William we don't like his kind of Orange drink (we prefer Diet Pepsi), and tell him to go back to Dusseldorf, where he's from. I read Wilson, so I'm through with this confusion stuff.
